This is not a weblog so much as a backlog of a lifetime’s creativity held carefully out of the poisonous limelight. It’s my one chance to talk about it without anyone being held captive to it, hence Backlogue.
Where do these strange words come from, neologisms that only their Father could love? I’m a huge fan of Lewis Carroll but these are not portmanteau words, they are something as new under the sun as the century we are now well into enduring. They stem from an unshakable optimism, which you’ll find everywhere in these pages, in particular my now even greater faith in the power of words and images.
For example, this old toilet-door meme says exactly how I often feel:
“I have been placed on this earth to achieve a certain number of things. Right now, I am so far behind, I will never die.”
There’s so much to do! There’s so much that’s worth doing! There are so many possibilities, I can’t do just one thing. I want to be everything. I want to know everything. I want to believe in everything. I want to see and do everything!
Am I alone in my obsession, or is this what this century feels like? Well no, but I mean, not yet.
